Justicia is a social enterprise operating as a not-for-profit company set up in 1985. Our customers enjoy browsing the huge variety of fair trade goods in our small friendly shop that is tucked away on the ground floor of an impressive Grade II listed building.
By selling the beautiful, useful and desirable items that are made by people in the developing world we aim to help them out of the poverty cycle. Without fair trade people would never have this opportunity. We also stock a greater variety of fairly traded food than you will see in any shop in Greater Manchester.
Our customers tell us that our shop is a delight with unique gifts available for special occasions as well as practical items of houseware for everyday use. We also carry a range of locally made eco-friendly items alongside a strong range of Ecover household products.
We are proud to be a founder member of BAFTS, the British Association for Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers, and many of our suppliers are fellow members of BAFTS. Their producer stories, explaining how Fair Trade helps them, are very moving and impressive. BAFTS criteria go beyond fair prices to include social and environmental considerations and gender equality. For more information on BAFTS see www.bafts.org.uk.
BAFTS membership is very important to us and it enables the shop to stock a wide range of fairly traded goods that are not at present eligible for the fairtrade mark, such as many foodstuffs, jewellery, ornaments, and musical instruments etc. We also stock household goods which are environmentally friendly, and cards and stationery produced by fair trade companies such as Traidcraft.
Come and see for yourselves.
We are proud to be members of Bafts, the British Fair Trade Network
